Its history began in 1928 when G.P. Turner & Adams was established in Wagga Wagga. In 1948, A.L. Adams & Partners was created, servicing Wagga Wagga, Lake Cargelligo and Henty. In 1962, A.L. Adams & Partners acquired the Sydney firm Warton Thompson & Co, a major local government audit firm. In 1974, A.L. Adams & Partners, Kenneally O’Sullivan & Co and Colin C White & Co merged to become Adams Kenneally White & Co. In 1976, AKW expanded throughout southern NSW with the Wagga head office complemented with six other regional offices.

AKW has grown from a sole practitioner to a firm that now employs over 50 staff and has eleven locations across regional NSW. It has been servicing the South West of NSW for almost 100 years. AKW purchased Butcher & Heaton in Gundagai in 1999, expanded into Tumut in 2005 by purchasing Elder Stuckey & Partners and MWC Accounting, purchased D.M. Budd & Co in Griffith in 2017, and merged with Fleming Partners in Deniliquin in 2024. AKW Financial Services commenced in 2006, expanding existing AKW services to include Financial Planning & Advice.
