Spectrum Accountants

Unfortunately, my experience wasn't what I had hoped for. I engaged Spectrum to clean up my Xero file and assist with ongoing bookkeeping. While the initial work was completed, the experience was marked by a lack of clarity around onboarding, scope of works and communication. I repeatedly sought clarification around what had been completed, what was included within the engagement and what would constitute ongoing services, however these questions often went unanswered for extended periods. Throughout the engagement, I found myself unsure of where the initial clean up ended and where an ongoing bookkeeping arrangement began. This ultimately resulted in unnecessary stress and uncertainty around expectations, billing and the overall direction of the engagement. Following the engagement, I spent considerable time working through issues that required correction. Rather than leaving with greater confidence in my financial systems, I found myself investing significant time identifying and resolving issues after the engagement, which was both unexpected and frustrating. When I raised these concerns, I was disappointed that there was little acknowledgement of the impact they had on my business or ownership of the issues raised. To Spectrum's credit, they ultimately acknowledged that the level of reporting and business insight I was seeking was beyond the scope of their bookkeeping service and that I would be better suited to a specialist bookkeeping firm. I believe that conversation should have happened much earlier. If I could offer one piece of constructive feedback, it would be to implement a formal onboarding and expectations meeting for bookkeeping clients. A clear discussion around scope, reporting, communication, billing and handover would likely have prevented much of the confusion I experienced. While I appreciate the work undertaken to establish my Xero file, the overall experience didn't leave me with the confidence, clarity or support I was hoping for.

I personally use spectrum and refer all my friends, family and clients to them. Their level of service is second to none. I highly recommend them!
