I do not write negative reviews, but I feel the need to given my experience with Sam and Sona. I'd like to start by acknowledging that Sona was always very lovely and easy to talk to. But, for 2 consecutive years Sam and Sona failed to check that I was claiming the tax free threshold for both of my jobs, resulting in tax bills of $12,000, $8000, and $5000. To make matters worse, when I asked how it is possible to owe so much Sam told me it is probably because I use fringe benefits from my job as a nurse and that the HECS would be contributing as well. He then asked if was an idiot over the phone for not paying more to my super and the company failed to send me money that was credited to my account for months. So after cancelling my fringe benefit and paying off my HECS as quickly as possible to avoid another bill I couldn't afford, I was hit with the $8000 tax bill. This return was done with a different agent at H&R Block who picked up on the tax-free threshold issue immediately and educated me on how fringe benefiting works and that it would only benefit me in my situation. Again, I don't write negative reviews often, but in addition to the tax problems, they were late to every meeting I had with them with no explanation or apology. The last 3 years have been a financial nightmare for me, but I hope that is the end of it.
